typographic banners for my exhibition ‹To Mark with Type›

⌖ laser printed on continuous form paper. Not exactly what a laser printer has in mind, so I basically went to war with the printing process. But with a little hacking and a lot of patience, everything is possible. ⌖

“And again, generally speaking, what carries us along? What enables us to move forward and shows us the way? You already know: soil, tarmac, the earth’s crust, puddles… The soles of our shoes are the unassuming facilitators of our journey.”

“Y de nuevo, en general, ¿qué nos lleva? ¿Qué nos permite avanzar y nos indica por dónde hacerlo? Tú ya lo sabes: suelo, asfalto, corteza terrestre, charcos… Las suelas de nuestro calzado son las discretas facilitadoras del recorrido.”

Produced alongside Eleni Wittbrodt’s exhibition “Twice is Real”, this artist publication was designed by Anne Büttner as a single volume sliced into six small booklets.

It brings together photographic research captured by Wittbrodt throughout the project with a reflective text by Esther Gatón. Structured for bidirectional reading, the publication can be explored from either direction in both English and Spanish.

The exhibition runs through this Saturday—stop by to see the installation and pick up a free copy of the zine.

Liebhabkondensat — eine Sammlung von 100 familären Idiolekten — a publication designed by @x_lelalu

The idiolect: the individual language space each person carries — built from vocabulary, speech patterns, expression, and pronunciation. Words shaped by family, place, and memory. Words that are usually overlooked, forgotten, pushed to the margins.

This publication collects 100 of them, examining each with German and English annotations. The words move from background to foreground. But not every word yields a clear reading — meaning here works like a crossword: emerging from clues, gaps, repetitions, and relationships rather than fixed definitions.

The collection is open by design. Personal associations are not misreadings — they are offers of meaning, openings for further Liebhabkondensate.

A Record of Humanity

is a time capsule for a possible future following the end of our current civilization. It is based on the premise that global conflicts have escalated into a Third World War, destroying large parts of life, infrastructure, and cultural knowledge.
The publication is intended for those who have survived this catastrophe or who come across the time capsule long afterward. Through 100 curated images, it traces the history of human development from Homo sapiens to the present day. Personal associations complement and influence this selection, linking historical traces with a subjective perspective. At the same time, the publication is intended as a message to a future society: as a reminder of our mistakes and as a hope that we will learn from them.

The project was developed during the summer semester of 2026 as part of @klassehickmann, in the seminar “Select, Sort it Out, Save it” led by @sebmilll

“words as poems” is a generative tool built to explore the way we play with words. When words can carry beyond their meaning, evoke a certain feeling, we can begin to challenge the boundaries between legibility and illegibility.

soakubeats – Hitoribun no Chikara

Art direction and graphic design for “Hitoribun no Chikara” by Japanese artist soakubeats.
The artwork on the front cover of the LP was specially created by Ataru Sato for this album, depicting the world and atmosphere of the music. His intricate hand-drawn illustration is combined with a restrained graphic system, creating a contrast between highly detailed imagery and open space throughout the vinyl and CD packaging.
